About Robert C.

Robert C. May built a steady legal career in Pennsylvania after completing his studies in the 1980s and early 1990s. He earned a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1992. Those degrees set the stage for a mix of private practice and teaching that would mark his professional life.

His first law firm position came in 1992, when he joined Shumaker Williams, P.C. as an associate. He spent the mid-1990s learning daily practice in a firm environment. By 1997 he had moved to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as an associate, taking on responsibilities at a national firm and gaining exposure to a broader set of matters and clients. Those early years were practical and hands-on. They helped him understand both court procedure and client management.

In 1999 May struck out on his own, operating as Robert C. May, Lawyer at Law. A year later he formed May & May, P.C., where he is listed as owner. Running a small firm shifted his work again. He took on the administrative and business tasks that come with ownership. He also maintained client work and courtroom appearances. The transition from associate to firm owner changed the rhythm of his practice.

Alongside practice he kept a presence in legal education. He served as an instructor at Pennsylvania State University — Harrisburg from 1994 to 1999. A decade later he was a visiting lecturer at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology for 2009. He is also a member of the Cumberland County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Those memberships link him to local and state bar activities and provide ongoing professional contact in the region.

May has spent most of his career practicing in Pennsylvania. He has steadily moved from associate roles in the 1990s to establishing and operating his own firm in the early 2000s. He manages the firm May & May, P.C., and continues to represent clients in matters before Pennsylvania courts. He currently practices at May & May, P.C., focusing on client matters in Pennsylvania.
