Robert C — Lehrman is the founding attorney of Lehrman Beverage Law, PLLC, based in Oakton, Virginia. He established the firm in 2001 after 12 years at a larger Washington, D.C., firm specializing in federal and state administrative law. From 1998 to 2001, he served as the partner in charge of the firm's Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Lehrman holds a Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was a member of the Buffalo Law Review.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government from St. Lawrence University in 1979. Admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, and Virginia, Mr. Lehrman has over 30 years of experience in alcohol beverage law. He has represented wineries, breweries, distilleries, and importers in negotiations with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). His expertise extends to advising clients on FDA and Customs matters.
In 2004, Mr. Lehrman played a pivotal role in facilitating the reintroduction of absinthe into the U.S. market after a 95-year ban. He has also managed large-scale product recalls, successfully petitioned to change federal regulations, and assisted a beverage company in winning a false advertising case.
