About Robert B.
Robert B. Niles earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 2010 and returned to Cambridge for graduate study, completing both a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2016. He pursued the joint course of study across the two graduate schools, combining legal training with business coursework during a period of simultaneous enrollment. Those years established the academic foundation he carries into practice.
After finishing his degrees, Niles joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP as an associate. He practices at one of the firm’s U.S. offices and has taken on responsibilities common to associates at large law firms. His day-to-day work includes legal research, drafting memoranda and briefs, preparing transactional documents, and assisting on discovery and motion practice when matters proceed through litigation.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach and attentive to detail. He typically works as part of deal teams and litigation groups, contributing to the drafting and review of key documents and helping coordinate work among outside counsel, clients, and internal firm resources. The role requires balancing multiple matters and responding to time-sensitive client needs, tasks he has handled since joining the firm.
Niles is admitted to the New York bar and has been a member of the New York State Bar since 2017. He maintains an active license in New York and conducts his practice under that jurisdiction. His registration with the bar enabled him to take on responsibilities that require a licensed practitioner, including client counseling and court filings.
Outside the immediate demands of firm work, he has engaged in professional development that complements his dual-degree background. His MBA training informs conversations about the business implications of legal strategies, while his law training provides the doctrinal and procedural grounding necessary for courtroom and transactional work. This combination shapes how he assesses risk and frames legal options for clients.
He is currently an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York, where he continues to handle matters for the firm’s clients under his New York bar admission.
