About Robert B.

Robert B. Lovett earned his law degree from Tulane University School of Law after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He arrived at law school after a liberal arts education that emphasized writing and critical analysis. The combination of a local undergraduate education and a southern law school offered him a mix of regional perspectives early in his career.

He later served as a partner at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. During his time at the firm he worked on matters that required coordination across practice groups and jurisdictions. The partner role placed him in a position of responsibility for client strategy and team management, and it shaped the practical side of his legal practice.

Lovett is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect a practice that reaches from state courts to the highest federal forum. His credentials allow him to handle matters that require advocacy in both state and federal venues.

His education at Tulane provided a grounding in complex litigation and appellate writing, elements that often inform work at the partner level in national firms. The earlier academic training at UMass Amherst provided a base in research and analysis. Together, those experiences informed how he approaches case preparation, briefing and legal strategy.

Clients and colleagues have relied on his ability to manage large, multi-jurisdictional matters and to synthesize technical and legal issues for decision makers. At the firm he coordinated teams that included litigators, regulatory specialists and trial attorneys. Those collaborations required an attention to detail and an ability to present clear legal positions under pressure.

Outside the office, he has maintained ties to the legal community through court admissions and professional networks in Massachusetts. That local presence complements his national admissions and informs the practical choices he makes when evaluating a case or selecting a venue.

He currently practices in Massachusetts and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
