His educational background includes earning a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1981, following his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego, which he completed in 1976. Mr. Schwartz began his legal career at his father's firm, A.R. "Babe" Schwartz P.C.
Here, he gained inexperience in general civil litigation and had the opportunity to represent clients before the Texas Legislature. This early exposure to various aspects of law laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. In 1996, he made a significant career move by joining Williams Bailey Law Firm, now known as Williams Kherkher Hart & Boundas. At this firm, he focused on mass torts, notably participating in the high-profile Fen-Phen diet drug litigation, which involved complex legal issues and garnered national attention. Following his tenure at Williams Bailey, Mr. Schwartz expanded his practice at Bailey & Galyen Law Firm, where he took on cases related to pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. His ability to handle the details of these cases further solidified his reputation as a skilled litigator.
In 2014, he returned to Brent Coon & Associates, where he continues to represent clients in personal injury, business litigation, and mass tort cases. His diverse experience allows him to handle many complex litigation matters effectively. Throughout his career, Mr. Schwartz has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the legal profession. In April 2025, he was elected to the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation, an honor that recognizes attorneys for their outstanding professional achievements and commitment to improving the justice system in Texas. His involvement extends beyond individual practice; he is also a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. His leadership roles include serving on the Board of Directors and holding the position of President from 2004 to 2005.
Mr. Schwartz is admitted to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas. With a career that has spanned more than 40 years, he continues to serve clients in Houston and beyond, leveraging his experience to tackle complex litigation challenges. His dedication to his clients and the legal profession remains unwavering, making him a respected figure in the field.
