About Robert

Robert Alderson earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1980 and went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1983. Those years placed him in the classroom as the legal landscape in Maryland and nationwide was changing. The academic record shows a steady progression from undergraduate study into professional training, and the dates mark the start of a long presence in Maryland law.

After law school Alderson entered practice in Maryland. He has spent his career operating within the state's legal community. Over decades he has seen the courts, regulatory bodies and business climate evolve. That continuity has informed how he manages matters and advises clients. Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic in the courtroom and at the conference table.

Throughout his career Alderson has worked in private practice. His name appears at Skidmore & Alderson, where he maintains an office. The firm affiliation has been a through-line in his professional life. He has represented individuals and organizations in matters that arise under Maryland law and has handled litigation, transactional work and regulatory matters encountered by state practitioners.

Alderson has remained engaged with peers and the larger legal community in Maryland. He holds current memberships in professional associations related to the practice of law. Those ties have kept him connected to changes in practice rules, court procedures and substantive law. They also provided regular interaction with judges, opposing counsel and agency officials.

Colleagues and clients say Alderson brings calm and clarity to complex problems. He favors straightforward analysis over rhetorical flourish. When a case requires negotiation, he looks for practical outcomes. When litigation is necessary, he prepares carefully for trial and for the contingencies that often arise in court practice.

Now into the fourth decade of his legal career, Alderson continues to practice in Maryland through Skidmore & Alderson. He remains active in the day-to-day work of representing clients and responding to legal issues under Maryland law.

He currently practices at Skidmore & Alderson, handling matters that arise under Maryland law.
