About Richard

Richard Shankland is a lawyer who works in private practice. He advises individuals and organizations on a range of legal issues and manages day-to-day matters that keep a law office running. He is known to approach each matter by breaking it into clear steps and communicating practical options to clients.

He completed his legal education before entering practice and has since applied that training across routine and complex tasks. Early in his career he handled client intake, research and document preparation, and he continued to take on more responsibility as his caseload grew. He has experience in drafting pleadings, preparing agreements, and assembling records for hearings and other proceedings.

Much of his work involves direct client contact. He spends time listening to people’s concerns, explaining potential outcomes, and guiding them through procedural requirements. He writes memoranda, negotiates on behalf of clients when appropriate, and prepares matters for adjudication when they proceed that far. He is comfortable both in written advocacy and in oral presentations in office settings and at administrative hearings.

On any given day, he balances legal research, client meetings, and the administrative side of running a practice. He is attentive to deadlines and prioritizes tasks so clients receive timely responses. His colleagues describe him as methodical. He focuses on clarity and practicality rather than on technical jargon. When cases or transactions present unexpected complications, he aims to present straightforward choices so clients can make informed decisions.

In his current practice he handles a variety of legal matters and continues to represent clients in negotiations, filings, and routine proceedings. He maintains an active caseload and organizes his work to provide consistent attention to those he represents. He currently practices general legal matters.
