About Richard M.

Richard M. Barron studied real estate as an undergraduate at Southern Methodist University, earning a B.B.A. in 1974. He stayed in Texas for law school and received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1977. Those early years of study set the groundwork for a long career in law rooted in Texas institutions and state practice.

He began practicing soon after graduation and has spent decades serving clients in Texas. Over the years he built a practice centered on issues that commonly affect older adults and their families. His membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and in that organization’s Texas chapter, both held since 2004, reflects an early and continuing interest in the legal needs of seniors. He is also listed as having maintained a professional association membership beginning in 1981.

Barron’s work touches several areas that fall under the elder law umbrella. He handles estate planning and probate matters, prepares documents that families use to plan for incapacity, and advises on long-term care options and public benefits eligibility. He helps clients consider the trade-offs between private pay and Medicaid when long-term care becomes necessary. His approach tends to be practical: identify immediate needs, clarify options, and prepare paperwork so families can act when circumstances change.

Clients typically come to him at stressful moments. They are arranging end-of-life plans, settling estates, or trying to protect assets while qualifying for benefits. Barron speaks plainly about legal choices. He takes time to explain how documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and Medicaid planning instruments work. He also assists with guardianship and conservatorship matters when incapacity requires court action.

Outside of client work, Barron has been active in professional circles related to elder law. His National Academy memberships, maintained since 2004, connect him to peers who focus on statutes, regulations, and case developments affecting older Americans. Those connections keep him aware of shifts in policy and practice that can affect clients who need long-term care planning.

Today he practices under the name Texas Elder Law Lawyer Richard M. Barron and continues to serve Texas clients on matters of estate planning, probate, Medicaid planning, and related elder law concerns. His current practice focuses on elder law and estate planning for clients in Texas.
