About Richard J.

Richard J. Mockler pursued successive degrees in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 1998, a J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2001, and an LL.M. from the University of Florida in 2002. The sequence shows a steady investment in legal education and an early commitment to advanced study.

His admissions reflect a practice that reaches beyond a single courtroom. He is admitted to practice in Florida, before the Eleventh Circuit, the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Those credentials allow him to file briefs and appear in both state and federal appellate forums. He is also a court-certified family mediator under the Florida Supreme Court program.

Mockler’s work combines written advocacy and alternative dispute resolution. He prepares appellate briefs and handles the procedural work that appellate practice requires. He also conducts mediations in family matters, acting under the authority that his certification provides. That blend gives him a role in both contested litigation and negotiated resolution.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing appellate filings and pragmatic in mediation settings. He approaches appellate issues by focusing on legal argument and precedent. In mediation he manages the process while aiming to keep parties engaged in realistic options for settlement. His educational background supports those roles; the additional LL.M. year allowed extra legal study following the J.D.

Mockler practices at Mockler Dorsett, P.A. There he files documents in courts where he is admitted and meets with clients and opposing counsel to resolve disputes outside the courtroom. His courtroom appearances are supplemented by sessions in conference rooms and mediation centers, where he serves as an impartial facilitator in family disputes.

Outside specific cases, he maintains the procedural knowledge necessary for appellate filings and the certifications required to mediate family matters in Florida. He stays active in those capacities as part of his regular practice.

He currently practices at Mockler Dorsett, P.A., handling appellate litigation and family mediation.
