A graduate of St. Peter's College in Jersey City, Gaeckle earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 2002. While at law school, he served as a Law Review Articles Editor, honing his legal writing and analytical skills. His commitment to social justice was evident during this time, as he volunteered for the New York Bar Foundation, where he represented tenants in landlord/tenant disputes—providing essential legal support to those in need. Additionally, he worked for a non-profit legal assistance agency, assisting employees with unemployment benefits, which further solidified his dedication to helping individuals navigate complex legal systems.

After completing his law degree, Gaeckle shifted his focus to construction law, a field where he could leverage his legal expertise effectively. He became Co-Chair of the Construction Section of the New Jersey Bar Association, where he played a pivotal role in shaping policies and practices within the industry. His commitment to education and professional development led him to lecture at Rutgers University School of Engineering, sharing his knowledge with aspiring engineers and legal professionals alike. Gaeckle’s status as a LEED Accredited Professional shows his dedication to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices in construction, aligning legal frameworks with modern ecological standards. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Gaeckle has actively engaged in community service.

He volunteered pro bono for homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy, participating in the Rebuilding Union Beach Project. This initiative aimed to assist families in rebuilding their homes and lives after the devastating storm, showcasing Gaeckle’s commitment to his community and the legal profession’s role in social recovery. In 2022, Gaeckle was named a partner at Petro Cohen, P.C., a recognition of his dedication and contributions to the firm. His expertise and leadership have been acknowledged by his peers, as he was recognized by New Jersey Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2007 to 2016.
