About Richard C.
Richard C. Broussard earned his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1974 after completing a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1971. His academic record placed him among a generation of Louisiana lawyers who entered practice in the mid-1970s and built long careers in state courts.
He began professional service as an officer in the United States Air Force Reserves in 1971, a role that ran alongside his academic studies and early legal training. That experience informed his approach to discipline and procedure. It also provided an early taste of public service before he turned full-time to private practice.
Broussard later became a partner at Broussard, David & Moroux, where he has practiced for many years. He has handled jury trials and courtroom matters in Louisiana courts. He earned certification in Civil Trial Advocacy from the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a credential that signals training and testing in trial skills beyond basic bar admission.
Public and bar leadership have been a steady part of his professional life. He served on the Louisiana State Bar House of Delegates in 1980–1981 and was a member of the Association’s Board of Governors from 1993 to 1995. He led the Lafayette Parish Bar Association as president in 1986–1987. He also served as secretary-treasurer for the Acadiana Inn of Court from 1989 to 1991. Those roles placed him in the middle of policy discussions, local bar governance, and lawyer mentoring programs.
He helped start the Lafayette Outreach for Civil Justice and remains a founding co-chairperson. His memberships include the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The combination of civic, bar, and professional-group work reflects a practice that extends beyond individual cases.
Colleagues describe Broussard as a lawyer who prepares thoroughly for trial and who values courtroom procedure. He brings NBTA civil trial certification to his case work and has long experience managing litigation in Louisiana. He balances trial preparation with participation in bar governance and local legal initiatives.
He continues to practice at Broussard, David & Moroux in Louisiana, handling civil trials and related litigation matters in state courts.
