About Richard
Richard Byers built his path to the law in Spokane, where he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at Gonzaga University in 2004 and went on to earn a J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2007. He combined business study and legal training early on, cultivating an interest in how regulation and commerce intersect.
He began his professional life in media and marketing. In 2004 he worked as an editorial assistant and in data management at the Associated Press. That early exposure to storytelling and information systems preceded internships in marketing and tax law; he spent time at Outsource Marketing in 2006 and served as a legal intern with the Gonzaga Federal Tax Clinic in 2009.
After law school he entered practice as an associate. In 2011 he worked as a lawyer at Stiley & Cikutovich, gaining hands-on experience in client representation and courtroom procedure. Two years later he took a step into firm leadership. In 2013 he became a founding partner of Carlisle & Byers, PLLC, where he has practiced since.
Byers maintains professional ties to his local legal community. He holds membership in the Spokane Bar Association and has remained active in regional legal circles. Those connections reflect a practice centered on serving clients within Washington state and on sustaining professional relationships across practice areas.
Office locations for his firm include a Tri-Cities presence and a Carlisle & Byers, PLLC office. He has worked in both smaller team settings and larger organizational environments, from national media to local law firms. That range underpins a practical approach to client work and firm management.
Over the past decade he has focused his career at Carlisle & Byers, building the firm’s operations and overseeing matters that arise in Washington. He continues to represent clients from the firm’s Tri-Cities and Carlisle & Byers offices, handling legal matters for individuals and businesses across the state.
