About Rich

Rich Reister moved from the lab to the courtroom. He completed a Bachelor of Science in biology at Texas A&M University in 2000, then earned his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2004. The shift from science to law set the tone for a career built on careful analysis and hands-on client work.

While at Cooley, Reister took on leadership roles that extended beyond the classroom. He served as president of the American Bar Association/Law School Division at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. That position placed him in the middle of student governance and professional programs, requiring coordination, public speaking and an understanding of legal education policy.

Clinical work gave Reister an early view of law’s practical demands. He worked in the Sixty-Plus Legal Clinic, serving low-income seniors. There he handled client intake, assisted with benefits questions and supported case preparation. The clinic experience provided a steady stream of real-world problems and a closer look at how legal practice affects vulnerable clients.

After law school, Reister moved into private practice. Over time he established the Reister Law Office. The firm’s public listings indicate a small office environment that caters to individual clients. Reister’s practice grew organically from the mix of leadership, clinic work and early casework that characterized his legal training.

His scientific training informs his approach to legal matters. A background in biology trained him to break complex problems into manageable parts and to weigh evidence carefully. He applies that same methodical thinking to legal research and client counseling, favoring clear explanations and practical next steps over legal jargon.

Colleagues and clients describe him as deliberate in his preparation. He prepares for hearings and client meetings in detail and values direct communication. That habit traces back to his time managing student programs and representing clinic clients, where preparation could make a decisive difference.

Today, Reister operates the Reister Law Office. He handles individual client matters and serves members of his local community. His current practice centers on providing legal services to individuals and local community members.
