About Rhonda
Rhonda Shelton earned her Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in 1984 and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1991. Those two degrees bookend a period of study that combined a scientific-style undergraduate training with three years of professional legal education. She left Hastings prepared to enter the bar and the practice of law.
Her legal career extends from the early 1990s into the present. Over more than three decades since earning her JD, Shelton has worked in settings that require client counseling, written advocacy and courtroom presence. She has handled case work, drafted transactional documents and undertaken negotiations. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical and grounded in the basics of legal analysis.
Shelton’s background in the sciences and law gives her a particular ease with complex factual records and technical documentation. She often applies that facility when reviewing contracts, preparing pleadings and managing discovery. That combination of training and experience helps her explain difficult issues to clients in straightforward terms.
Her professional life has included representation of both individuals and organizational clients. She has been involved in contested matters as well as nonlitigious transactions. Whether preparing for trial, negotiating settlements or counseling clients on routine matters, Shelton favors clarity in communication and careful preparation in casework.
Outside of case files, she has maintained ties to continuing legal education and professional development. Over the years Shelton has participated in seminars and programs aimed at keeping pace with changes in procedure and substantive law. She also mentors newer attorneys on practical skills such as drafting pleadings and courtroom procedure.
Today Shelton practices law in a private capacity, handling a broad portfolio of matters that reflect her varied background. Her practice centers on advising individuals and organizations on a range of legal issues and delivering practical legal guidance tailored to each client’s circumstances.
