R. Rex Parris is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1980. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Parris is the founding partner of PARRIS Law Firm, a personal injury and class action law firm located in Lancaster, California. He has been practicing law for over 45 years, serving clients throughout California.
Mr. Parris earned his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School in 1980. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law & Society in 1977. During his time at UCSB, he was accepted into the Scholar's Program, reflecting his academic dedication.
Mr. Parris concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, employment law, and environmental law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and premises liability claims. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Parris has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Notably, in 2009, he was lead counsel in obtaining a historic defamation jury verdict of $370 million against Georges Marciano, the co-founder of Guess Jeans. This remains one of the largest jury verdicts in U.S. history.
Mr. Parris is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys of California. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America as the 2024 "Lawyer of the Year" for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs. In addition to his legal practice, he has served as the mayor of Lancaster, California, since 2008, where he has been involved in various community initiatives, including efforts to reduce gang violence and promote environmental sustainability.
