About Reid
Reid Roberts earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1981 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in economics, at the University of Pittsburgh in 1977. His academic path combined analysis of public policy with an understanding of economic forces, a pairing that would inform a long career in the courtroom and at the negotiating table.
Roberts began his legal career in the Allegheny County court system. In 1982 he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence W. Kaplan in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Family Division. That early exposure to family law matters and court procedure shaped his practice in the years that followed. A year later he joined the Pennsylvania bar and moved into private practice.
By 1984 Roberts had become a shareholder at Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky and later served as that firm’s managing partner. He spent decades in that environment, taking on trial work and client counseling while moving into leadership roles inside the firm. In 2018 he left to co-found Bunde & Roberts, P.C., where he remains a founding shareholder. Those shifts trace a steady trajectory from clerkship to firm leadership to the establishment of his own practice.
Peers have recognized Roberts’ engagement in professional organizations. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation, and he belongs to the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. He has been active in the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania State Bar, and the Allegheny County Bar Association for decades. Memberships and fellowships have kept him connected to developments in family law and to other lawyers handling complex domestic matters.
Roberts’ courtroom background and long association with matrimonial law groups suggest a practice built around family disputes, settlements and litigation. Over the years he has balanced trial appearances with negotiated resolutions, drawing on years of experience in county courts and private practice. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and deliberate in preparation.
Today Roberts practices at Bunde & Roberts, P.C., where he continues to handle family and matrimonial matters, including divorce, child custody, and support issues. His current practice centers on resolving domestic disputes through both negotiation and litigation.
