About Refik Werner
Refik Werner Eler is an attorney based in Jacksonville, Florida, with over 30 years of experience in various areas of law. From 2009 to 2017, he served as the Chief Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida, further solidifying his reputation in the legal community.
This position involved representing clients in serious criminal matters, ensuring that their rights were upheld throughout the judicial process. In addition to his practice, Mr. Eler has contributed to legal education as an Adjunct Professor at Florida Coastal School of Law. There, he taught trial advocacy to second and third-year law students, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of attorneys. His involvement in professional associations includes participation in the Florida Public Defender Association’s Death Penalty Steering Committee and Mental Health Committee, showcasing his commitment to addressing critical legal issues. Community service is also a priority for Mr. Eler.
He has served on the Board of Directors for the Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless and the Jacksonville Humane Society, demonstrating his dedication to improving the lives of others. In 2019, he received an admonishment from the Florida Bar for minor misconduct related to deficient performance in certain cases.
