About Rechtsanwalt Holger
Rechtsanwalt Holger Siegwart built an early bridge between language and law. He studied law at the University of Heidelberg, completing his J.D. equivalent in 1997 after beginning his studies in 1992. During that period he also pursued language training, earning certifications in Italian and Spanish from the University of Heidelberg and later completing advanced Spanish studies at the University of Valencia in 1997.
His legal career began in Germany shortly after graduation. In 1997 he served as a law clerk and hearing representative at the State Supreme Court of Karlsruhe (Oberlandesgericht). He joined a German law office as an associate in 1999 and became a partner there in 2001. In 2006 he spent time as a volunteer lawyer, and by 2007 he had moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked as an associate in a litigation firm. In 2008 he established his own practice, SIEGWART GERMAN AMERICAN LAW Inc., operating at the intersection of German and American legal practice.
Siegwart holds memberships on both sides of the Atlantic. He was admitted to the Bar of Karlsruhe in 1999 and joined the State Bar of California in 2007. He remains a member of both bars. His professional associations include the San Francisco Bar Association and the San Francisco Barristers Club, both in their international sections, and he is active in the German-American Business Association and the German Roundtable in San Francisco. He also serves as a Senior Advisor for California and the U.S. West to the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany (AmCham).
Those years in German courts followed by practice in California have shaped a practice that revolves around cross-border transactions, business relations and regulatory questions that touch on both jurisdictions. He has experience in courtroom settings in Germany and in litigation practice in California. Colleagues describe him as methodical and direct in his handling of matters, preferring clear analysis over rhetorical flourish.
Today Siegwart runs SIEGWART GERMAN AMERICAN LAW Inc., advising clients on issues that arise where German and U.S. law intersect. He continues to participate in professional groups focused on international business and law in the Bay Area and in Germany. He currently concentrates his practice on German-American commercial matters and cross-border legal issues.
