About Rebecca J
Rebecca J Carrillo took a conventional path into law that left room for practical experience early on. She completed a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology at Texas A&M University, College Station, in 2002. Four years later she earned her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2006. The academic record set a base for courtroom work and a career in family law.
Her first credited legal position on this record is at Vance & Whitley, LLP, where she worked as a lawyer beginning in 2009. Two years after that she opened her own practice. In 2011 she established The Law Office of Rebecca J. Carrillo and has continued there as owner. The move from associate to firm owner marked a change in daily responsibilities. It also placed case management and client counseling squarely under her control.
Carrillo is admitted to practice in Texas and in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. She holds Board Certification in Family Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that denotes a measured level of experience and peer review in that field. That certification is a recognizable credential in Texas family law cases and helps define the technical scope of her practice.
Outside the office she has sustained ties to professional and community organizations. She has been a member of the National Association of Professional and Executive Women and the Collaborative Professional Association of San Antonio since 2011. Her membership in several local bar and alumni groups dates to 2009, including the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association, the Aggie Bar Association and the San Antonio Bar Association. She also belongs to Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, a legal honor society she joined in 2008.
Colleagues and clients see in her resume a steady progression from law school to private practice ownership, underpinned by continuing involvement in professional networks. Her work involves litigation and negotiated settlements, with routine engagement in the procedural and evidentiary questions that arise in family court proceedings.
She maintains an active practice through The Law Office of Rebecca J. Carrillo. Her current practice focuses on family law matters.
