About Ray
Ray Flavin entered law school after completing graduate work in business management. He earned an M.A. in Business Management from Webster University in 1988 and a J.D. from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1992. Those years set the stage for a career that has remained rooted in Illinois courts and county dockets.
Shortly after receiving his law degree, Flavin gained admission to practice before the Illinois Supreme Court in 1992. He has maintained membership in the Illinois State Bar Association since that year and belongs to the McHenry County Bar Association. That professional network reflects the local character of his practice and his ongoing engagement with peers in the state.
From the beginning of his legal career he has worked in criminal defense. In 1992 he established the Law Office of Ray Flavin and has practiced under that name. His work centers on defending people charged with crimes across the state of Illinois. He is often identified as a DUI lawyer, and his caseload has included both misdemeanor and felony matters.
In courtrooms, Flavin has handled arraignments, pretrial motions, plea negotiations and jury trials. He represents clients through every stage of the criminal process. That includes advising clients about constitutional issues, evidence challenges and sentencing exposures. He also deals with related traffic and license matters that commonly arise from DUI cases.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who meets procedural deadlines, prepares witnesses and argues motions when needed. He balances courtroom work with client counseling. For some clients, the immediate goal is resolving a charge quickly. For others, the aim is to preserve driving privileges or contest the allegations at trial.
Outside individual cases, Flavin remains connected to the local bar. His membership in the McHenry County Bar Association keeps him in contact with county judges and fellow practitioners. His long-standing participation in the Illinois State Bar Association since 1992 reflects steady professional involvement rather than episodic participation.
He continues to operate the Law Office of Ray Flavin in Illinois. His present practice concentrates on criminal defense work, including DUI representation and related traffic matters.
