About Ray
Ray Choudhry built a legal career that spans several decades and a mix of private practice and public service. He completed a B.A. at California State University, Los Angeles in 1968, earned an M.B.A. from Northwestern University in 1972 and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1974. Those academic credentials laid a foundation for work both in the courtroom and in county government.
Early in his career Choudhry became active in professional organizations. He has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 1975 and joined the Rock Island County Bar Association the same year. He served as treasurer of the American Legal Clinic Association from 1978 to 1981 and took part in the Illinois State Bar Association’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee between 1980 and 1983.
Choudhry’s roster of positions shows steady involvement in local legal and civic matters. In 1996 he served as a foreclosure commissioner for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a role that placed him at the intersection of federal housing policy and local property disputes. He later advised county political organizations as general counsel to the Rock Island County Republican Central Committee in 2010 and to the Rock Island County Board Republican Minority Caucus in 2014. In 2016 he returned to private practice leadership as managing lawyer at Mid America Law Offices, Ltd.
In 2018 Choudhry took on two county appointments: Rock Island County Public Administrator and Rock Island County Public Guardian. Those roles involve oversight of estate matters for people who die without someone to handle their affairs and guardianship responsibilities for adults who cannot manage their own personal or financial needs. They placed him in regular contact with county officials, social services and local courts.
Peers and clients have noted his long tenure in the region. An AVVO rating of 9.2 (Superb) appears among the publicly available profiles describing his practice. His work over time indicates experience in real estate-related proceedings, estate and guardianship matters, and local government counsel, reflecting the variety of positions he has held.
Choudhry practices in Illinois and maintains ties to the Quad Cities legal community. He works out of Mid America Law Offices, Ltd., where his current practice concentrates on probate and guardianship matters, real estate issues tied to foreclosures and estate administration, and providing counsel to local governmental entities.
