About Randi

Randi McCoy built her legal foundation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a B.A. in Communication Studies in 2011. She continued her legal education at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University, receiving her J.D. in 2015. Her academic path combined communication and law, shaping how she approaches client work and courtroom advocacy.

She began her professional career at Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton, LLP as a law clerk in 2015. The following year she took on the role of staff lawyer at the same firm. Those positions placed her in day-to-day litigation work early in her career. They also offered steady courtroom exposure and the routine of preparing cases for trial and motion practice.

McCoy is licensed to practice in Alabama and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. She holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Alabama Association for Justice. Locally, she has been active in the Birmingham Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section, serving on the Executive Board and participating in the Mentoring Committee. These roles keep her connected to peers and the local legal community.

Her service extends beyond bar work. She serves on the junior boards of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Alabama chapter and United Ability. She is also involved with Taxpayers Against Fraud. Those commitments reflect an interest in community and nonprofit engagement alongside her legal practice. In the Young Lawyers Section she has focused on mentoring newer attorneys and contributing to programming for younger members of the bar.

Her practice has remained anchored at Hare, Wynn, Newell & Newton, LLP, where she continues the litigation track she began as a clerk. She handles litigation tasks that include drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and appearing in hearings. She represents clients in state court and in federal court, and she has experience filing and responding to litigation matters in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. She now represents clients in state and federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, and her practice focuses on civil litigation.
