About Ramsey A.
Ramsey A. Bahrawy began his higher education at Tufts University, where he earned a B.A. in political science in 1972. He continued his studies at California Western School of Law and earned a J.D. in 1979. Those years framed his early interest in courtroom work and public service.
After law school he spent time inside the courthouse. In 1978 he served as a judicial clerk for the San Diego Municipal Court. The clerkship put him alongside judges and courtroom staff, handling motions, drafting memoranda and observing trials. The work offered an early, practical education in how courts operate day to day.
Bahrawy joined the Massachusetts State Bar in 1979 and maintains that membership today. A few years later he moved into public defense. In 1981 he worked as an Essex County Bar Advocate, taking appointments in criminal matters and representing clients who could not afford private counsel. That role required frequent appearances, quick decision making and repeated contact with prosecutors and court personnel.
Throughout his career Bahrawy’s practice has centered on courtroom advocacy. Much of his experience comes from criminal defense and trial work, where he handled arraignments, pretrial motions and jury trials. He has relied on the procedural grounding from his clerkship and the day-to-day demands of public defense to handle cases that require steady courtroom presence. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and thorough in preparation.
Today he practices in Massachusetts and continues to handle matters that bring him back to state courts. His background spans academic study in political science, hands-on courtroom experience as a clerk, and front-line defense work in Essex County. He currently practices in Massachusetts, handling criminal defense matters.
