About Rachel

Rachel Stroup built her legal foundation at Wesleyan University, earning a B.A. in 1999, and at Northeastern University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2006. Those years shaped her legal thinking and set the stage for a career spent largely in the field of employment law. She entered practice after law school and has worked in Massachusetts courts and federal forums ever since.

She is a partner at Zalkind Duncan & Bernstein LLP. In that role she has handled contested matters brought by and against employees, appearing in hearings and in federal and state court. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing cases and ready to take them to trial when necessary. Her partnership at the firm reflects a practice that blends litigation, client counseling, and case strategy.

Her admissions include the Massachusetts bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Those credentials allow her to pursue matters at the trial and appellate levels. She has used those admissions to press cases before administrative bodies as well as in courtroom settings when clients need that route.

Stroup maintains active ties to professional organizations that align with her practice. She belongs to the Massachusetts Employment Lawyers Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association, where members typically trade developments in employment law and coordinate training and advocacy. She is also listed with the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, an affiliation that broadens her exposure to procedural and evidentiary issues that can intersect with employment disputes.

Her courtroom work and association memberships inform the way she approaches cases. She prepares fact records thoroughly and frames legal arguments to address both immediate remedies and longer-term client objectives. She tends to pursue negotiated resolutions when they serve a client’s goals, but she is prepared to litigate when a matter cannot be resolved outside court.

Clients meet her as a lawyer experienced in employment matters across state and federal venues. Her practice at Zalkind Duncan & Bernstein LLP spans litigation and pretrial advocacy, counseling on employment disputes, and appellate work in the First Circuit. She currently centers her practice on employment law, representing clients in Massachusetts and in federal courts.
