About Rachel R.
Rachel R. Laborde grew up studying language and culture and carried that interest into law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language, Literature & Culture from Marquette University in 2011. She then stayed at Marquette for law school and received her J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2014.
After law school she began practicing in Wisconsin. She is admitted to the Wisconsin bar and is authorized to appear before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Early in her career she became involved in several bar and professional groups that reflect her practice style and interests.
Her professional memberships are broad. She belongs to the State Bar of Wisconsin and several of its committees, including the Leadership Development and Mentorship committees and the Young Lawyers Division. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section and the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin. Locally, she is active in the Sheboygan County Bar Association and the Sheboygan Women in Management Network. She has served on the Board of Directors for Lakeshore Community Health Care since 2016.
Those affiliations inform how she approaches work. She uses collaborative law and other dispute-resolution tools in family law matters, and she handles contested matters when negotiation or collaborative processes do not resolve them. She also represents clients in proceedings in state court and in the federal district where she is admitted. Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in the courtroom and methodical in preparation.
Rachel practices from a Sheboygan office and keeps a mix of courtroom work, negotiated settlements and collaborative practice in her caseload. She continues to participate in local boards and bar committees while representing individuals in family-related disputes and related litigation. Her current practice focuses on family law, collaborative law, mediation and court representation in Wisconsin and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
