About R. Thomas Tom
R. Thomas Tom Lowe earned his J.D. from Regent University School of Law in 1996. He took the classroom work into the courtroom early in his career. The law degree provided the foundation for a practice that has spanned public service, the bench, and private practice.
After law school Lowe served as a deputy prosecuting lawyer at the Clark County Prosecutor's Office. He handled cases on behalf of the state, gaining experience in charging decisions, courtroom procedure, and trial work. That period gave him a front-row view of how criminal matters are managed from the prosecution side.
Lowe later served as a judge at Sellersburg Town Court. In that role he presided over municipal matters, managing dockets and issuing rulings on a range of local offenses. The bench assignment added a different perspective to his understanding of the courtroom and the responsibilities borne by judicial officers.
Following his time in public roles, Lowe moved into private practice. He is the owner of Lowe Law Office, where he handles matters in state and federal venues. He is admitted to practice in Indiana and frequently appears in the Federal District Courts for both the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana, as well as in the Seventh Circuit.
The arc of Lowe’s career — prosecutor, judge, private lawyer — informs how he approaches cases. He has experience on both sides of the aisle and has seen how cases progress from charging decisions to adjudication. He is an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, which reflects ongoing ties to the criminal defense community.
Clients and colleagues describe him as steady in court and pragmatic when assessing options. He balances courtroom readiness with an eye toward resolution when that serves a client’s interests. His practice handles litigation steps, evidentiary matters, and hearings in municipal, state, and federal settings.
Lowe remains based at Lowe Law Office and continues to represent clients across the jurisdictions where he is credentialed. He is engaged in criminal defense work in both state courts and federal courts, including trial and appellate matters in the Seventh Circuit.
