About R. Parker McFarland
R. Parker McFarland Jr. earned his legal degrees in 2001, completing J.D. programs at both Mississippi College School of Law and The University of Georgia School of Law. Those simultaneous credentials set the stage for a return to practice in Georgia. He is licensed to practice in Georgia.
Early in his career he took on leadership at a family firm. In 2001 he served as president of McFarland & McFarland. He later joined Banks, Stubbs & McFarland LLP and became a partner there in 2015. Over the years he has worked in local courts and maintained ties to his home county, building a practice that mixes courtroom work and client representation outside the courtroom.
McFarland has been active in bar and civic organizations for much of his career. He joined several criminal defense and trial groups beginning in 2002, including the National College for DUI Defense, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been a member of the Forsyth County Bar Association and the Forsyth County Criminal Defense Bar since 2002. He served as president of the Forsyth County Criminal Defense Bar twice, from 2005 to 2006 and again from 2014 to 2015. He held leadership roles in the Forsyth County Bar Association as vice president in 2010–2011 and president in 2011–2012, and served as vice president of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 2011 until 2014. He has also participated in civic organizations, including the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and the North Forsyth Rotary Club board.
Those memberships reflect the kinds of matters he takes to court. He represents clients in criminal cases and handles DUI-related matters. He has experience in trial practice and in the procedural work that precedes trial. His involvement in organizations such as the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America in earlier years indicates a sustained interest in courtroom advocacy and peer engagement.
He practices at Banks, Stubbs & McFarland LLP in Georgia, where he serves as a partner and handles criminal defense and DUI cases. His current practice focuses on representing individuals facing criminal charges and DUI allegations.
