About R. Michael Pierro
R. Michael Pierro Jr. built a legal path that moves from undergraduate study in sociology to dual graduate degrees and a career split between advocacy and dispute resolution. He completed a B.A. in sociology at Eckerd College in 1995. He then attended Texas Tech University beginning in 1997 and earned both an M.B.A. and a J.D. in 2000.
His early years in practice began in the Southeast. He joined Carlock, Copeland & Stair, LLP in 2001, where he worked on civil matters and began developing a litigation practice. In 2005 he moved to Allen, Norton & Blue, P.A., continuing to handle employment and business disputes. In 2014 he opened the Law Office of R. Michael Pierro, Jr., P.A., taking on both client representation and mediation work. Since 2020 he has been listed as a lawyer and mediator with Calciano Pierro PLLC.
Pierro holds several formal certifications that shape his daily work. He is board certified in labor and employment law by The Florida Bar. He is an approved circuit civil mediator under the Florida Supreme Court and a certified federal mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Those credentials reflect a practice that spans courtroom advocacy and alternative dispute resolution.
Professionally he has maintained bar and association memberships over time. He has been a member of the Georgia State Bar since 2000 and is admitted in Georgia, Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He served as chair of the Employment Section of the St. Petersburg Bar Association from 2014 until 2019. He was also a member of the National Italian American Bar Association from 2014 to 2016.
Colleagues and clients see him most often in roles that require both legal analysis and an ability to manage settlement discussions. His background includes traditional employment litigation and mediations conducted in state and federal forums. He has combined experience at larger regional firms and in solo and small-firm practice.
He continues to practice through Calciano Pierro PLLC, handling employment-related disputes and serving as a mediator in circuit and federal matters. His current practice focuses on employment law and mediation work.
