About Phillip
Phillip Price graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1975. He moved into the study of law after college and began practicing in Alabama in the late 1970s. His academic start was a straightforward one: a Bachelor of Arts followed by years spent in courtrooms and classrooms.
He began his legal career in 1979 at Price and Flowers Law Office. That early move marked the start of a long practice in criminal defense work across the state. Over decades he has handled a wide range of cases, often appearing in state courts and working on matters tied to driving under the influence and criminal charges.
Professional associations have been a consistent part of his career. He has been a fellow of the National College of DUI Defense since 1995 and at one point served as the organization’s dean. In the early 1990s he held leadership posts closer to home. He served as president of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 1992 to 1993. He was also involved with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is listed as having been in its President’s Club in 1992. In 1995 he was on the faculty roster for the Alabama Bar Institute on Continuing Legal Education.
Colleagues and students have known him as a practical courtroom lawyer who also spent time on training and education. He has moved between trial benches and seminar rooms, taking on roles that required both advocacy and the ability to explain complex legal questions to other lawyers. That mixture of trial work and teaching shaped how he prepared for cases and how he advised newer attorneys.
His work on DUI defense is a throughline. The National College of DUI Defense affiliation reflects an ongoing interest in the technical and procedural aspects of impaired-driving cases. At the same time, his leadership of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association points to a broader engagement with criminal defense issues statewide.
Today he practices out of the firm where he began his career, handling criminal cases and defense work in Alabama courts. He continues to divide his time between courtroom representation and educational efforts aimed at lawyers handling DUI and criminal defense matters.
