About Philip J.

Philip J. Gordon graduated from Bowdoin College before earning his J.D. at Suffolk University Law School. His academic background combines a liberal arts undergraduate degree with a professional legal education in Boston. He moved into practice in Massachusetts and has maintained active ties to the region throughout his career.

Gordon is a long-standing member of both the Massachusetts State Bar, where his membership dates to 1995, and the New York State Bar, admitted since 2003. He holds admissions that permit practice in the 1st Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, and he is admitted in several federal district courts including those for Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Colorado. He practices at Gordon Law Group, LLP, where he represents clients in court and before administrative bodies.

His professional affiliations reflect the types of matters he handles. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association. He serves on the board of the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) and participates in the Wage and Hour Project of the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Outside of the usual bar activities he took on a community role at the Maccabi Games in 2004, serving as chairman of hockey for that event.

Gordon’s courtroom work spans state and federal venues. He files in federal district courts and has the credentials to appear in the country’s appellate and highest courts. That access matters in cases that move beyond a single jurisdiction. It also shapes the litigation strategies he uses in employment and wage matters and in cases involving immigrant and refugee issues.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with sustained involvement in nonprofit legal projects. He balances litigation duties with board work at MIRA and volunteer service through the Volunteer Lawyers Project. That mix keeps him involved in both individual cases and broader policy questions affecting workers and immigrants.

He currently practices at Gordon Law Group, LLP, representing clients in employment, wage-and-hour, and immigrant and refugee matters.
