Peter H. Weinberger is the managing partner at Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP, located at 1001 Lakeside Avenue East, Suite 1700 in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been a member of the Ohio State Bar since 1975, marking nearly five decades of legal practice. Weinberger earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in the same year he joined the bar, 1975. Prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Syracuse University in 1972. His academic background laid a strong foundation for his subsequent legal career.
During his time in law school, Weinberger gained inexperience by clerking for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. This role provided him with insights into federal legal proceedings and complex litigation processes. His practice primarily focuses on complex injury and wrongful death cases, which include medical malpractice, defective products, and motor vehicle accidents. Over the years, he has developed a reputation for handling high-stakes cases that require meticulous attention to detail and a understanding of the law. Weinberger has played a significant role in several high-profile litigations.
He served as co-liaison counsel in the National Prescription Opiate Multidistrict Litigation, a landmark case addressing the opioid crisis in the United States. Additionally, he was a member of the Plaintiff's Steering Committee in the Benicar MDL, which involved claims related to a medication that allegedly caused severe health issues. His involvement in these cases shows his commitment to advocating for those affected by corporate negligence and malpractice. Before joining Spangenberg Shibley & Liber in 1988, Weinberger worked at a small firm in Cleveland from 1975 to 1987. There, he developed his skills in personal injury and product liability law, building a solid foundation for his future endeavors. His expertise is recognized; he has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America® since 2007 and was named Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs in 2021.
Furthermore, he has been selected as a Super Lawyer in Ohio since 2006, reflecting his standing in the legal community.
