About Peter R

Peter R Tovey earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2005 after completing a bachelor’s degree in history at Brigham Young University–Hawaii in 2004. He moved from academic study into practice quickly. The sequence of his education and early career reflects a steady turn toward courtroom work and client counseling in Oregon.

His early legal work included a position at Brindle McCaslin & Lee in 2009, where he handled a range of matters typical for an emerging lawyer at a general practice firm. By 2012 he was listed as a lawyer at Hillsboro Law Group PC. Those years show a practitioner building practical experience in client representation, case preparation and litigation support in local courts.

Tovey is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association and is licensed to practice in Oregon. He maintains professional ties across the state’s legal community. His membership in the state bar guides his practice and professional obligations, including the ethical and continuing-education standards that govern lawyers in Oregon.

He has been active in professional organizations for more than a decade. Tovey joined the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in 2009 and has remained a member since then. He also became a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2011 and continues that affiliation. He holds other professional memberships that date back to 2008. Those associations indicate sustained engagement with practice areas that overlap criminal defense and immigration law and reflect participation in conferences, training and peer networks.

Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who pursues the facts of a case directly. He has spent years handling client intake, drafting pleadings and appearing in hearings across Oregon. The record of employment at established local firms points to steady courtroom exposure and client work in both trial and administrative settings.

Tovey continues to practice at Hillsboro Law Group PC. He represents clients in matters that involve criminal defense and immigration issues, and he focuses his practice on immigration and criminal defense matters.
