About Peter P. Leventis
Peter P. Leventis IV combined early federal training and a traditional law-school path to build a practice rooted in both investigative work and courtroom advocacy. He attended the University of Virginia, completing his undergraduate studies in 1999, and the next year completed training at the Federal Law Enforcement Special Agent and U.S. Secret Service Training Academy. He earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007.
He is licensed to practice in South Carolina and has moved between public-facing roles and private practice. Early in his career he served as the national spokesperson for the New York Interagency Electronic Crimes Task Force from 2002 to 2003, a position that placed him at the intersection of law enforcement and public communications. Years later he transitioned into full-time legal practice.
Leventis worked at Chappell, Smith & Arden, P.A. beginning in 2016, where he practiced as a lawyer on matters handled by the firm. In 2023 he became a founding partner of Smith, Born, Leventis, Taylor & Vega, LLC. That move established him as a principal at a multi-attorney firm and marked a new phase of firm leadership and case responsibility.
Professional associations have been a steady part of his career. He holds current memberships in the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association and the South Carolina Association for Justice. He also serves on a Workers Compensation Ad Hoc Committee on Lump Sum Awards. Those roles indicate a sustained engagement with workers’ compensation policy and practice in the state.
Leventis is certified as a Circuit Court Mediator in South Carolina. That credential complements his trial work and offers an alternative dispute-resolution pathway for clients. His earlier work connected to electronic crimes continues to inform aspects of his practice when technical and investigative questions arise.
Colleagues and clients see him as someone who bridges investigative experience and courtroom procedure. He brings the perspective of a former federal-training environment to matters that require detailed factual development and advocacy. At Smith, Born, Leventis, Taylor & Vega, LLC he handles litigation and mediation matters while maintaining active involvement in state workers’ compensation issues.
His current practice focuses on workers’ compensation matters and civil litigation in South Carolina.
