Peter Maurice Lively is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1992. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Lively is the principal of the Law Office of Peter M. Lively, a law firm located in Culver City, California. He has been practicing law for over 33 years, serving clients throughout the greater Los Angeles area and surrounding counties in Southern California.
Mr. Lively earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 1992. Concurrently, he obtained his Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in the same year. Prior to his legal education, he completed his undergraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Management and Economics in 1988, where he graduated with high honors and served as President of Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honors Society.
Mr. Lively concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy law, business law, and real estate law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, as well as debt settlement and debt consolidation. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lively has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at Coleman & Coleman, A Professional Law Corporation, from January 1993 to January 1994.
Mr. Lively is an active member of the Central District of California Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Association (CDCBAA), serving as President in 2017 and holding various other positions within the organization. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, inducted in 2013. Additionally, he has been recognized as the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by Public Counsel in 2012. Mr. Lively is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Los Angeles County effectively.
