About Peter M.
Peter M. Hsiao began his path into law after completing undergraduate studies in political science at the University of Southern California in 1994. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Whittier College in 1999. Those academic steps set the groundwork for a career centered on workplace injury law.
Early in his career Hsiao concentrated on cases that involved workers and employers, gaining experience in the procedures and deadlines that shape workers' compensation claims. Over time he transitioned from working on individual files to building a practice aimed at handling more complex administrative hearings and appeals. He formed California Workers Compensation Lawyers, APC to create a practice environment organized around those needs.
At California Workers Compensation Lawyers, APC, Hsiao acts as founder and principal attorney. He manages case strategy and client intake while overseeing litigation through hearings before the workers' compensation judge. His work includes preparing medical evidence, arguing for benefit entitlements, and pursuing awards for permanent disability when appropriate. He also handles liens and subrogation issues that often arise in longer-running claims.
Outside the office Hsiao has remained connected to the legal community. He has been a member of the California Applicant Lawyer Association since 2015. In 2022 he joined the Los Angeles County Bar Association, taking part in local bar activities and continuing legal education offerings. These memberships reflect ongoing engagement with the procedural and substantive changes that affect workers' compensation law in California.
Colleagues describe Hsiao as methodical in preparing cases for hearing. He places emphasis on gathering medical documentation that supports a claimant’s narrative and on meeting procedural deadlines that can affect benefits. He represents individuals at every stage of the claims process, from initial petitions through evidentiary hearings and the appellate steps when disputes persist.
In practice he balances courtroom preparation with client communication, guiding claimants through the administrative process and explaining how medical records, vocational evaluations, and settlement considerations fit into the larger picture. He also addresses practical concerns such as return-to-work issues and coordination with disability benefits.
As of 2026 Hsiao maintains his practice at California Workers Compensation Lawyers, APC, where he represents injured workers in state workers' compensation proceedings.
