About Peter Lewis
Peter Lewis Lawrence is an attorney specializing in consumer bankruptcy and real estate law — In 2003, he co-founded Lawrence & Jurkiewicz LLC, establishing offices in Torrington and West Hartford, Connecticut. The firm provides a range of services, including bankruptcy, debt relief, foreclosure mediation, and various real estate matters. This diverse practice allows Mr. Lawrence to assist clients facing significant financial challenges, guiding them through complex legal fields. Originally from Manchester, Connecticut, Mr. Lawrence has deep roots in the region. He earned his undergraduate degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he developed a strong foundation in critical thinking and problem-solving.
Before embarking on his legal career, he obtained a real estate broker’s license and worked working in Massachusetts real estate. This early exposure to the real estate market laid the groundwork for his future specialization in that field. Mr. Lawrence graduated from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, where he distinguished himself as a law review editor. His academic achievements reflect his commitment to legal scholarship and excellence. After completing his law degree, he worked by clerking for the Connecticut Superior Court. This clerkship provided him with insights into judicial processes and the workings of the legal system, enhancing his legal acumen.
Following his clerkship, Mr. Lawrence began his legal career in commercial litigation at Cohn & Birnbaum, P.C. in Hartford. There, he developed his litigation skills and developed a keen understanding of commercial law. Subsequently, he shifted his focus to real estate projects, where he further cultivated his expertise. Eventually, he returned to private practice with Murphy, Laudati & Kiel, P.C., where he continued to build his reputation in consumer bankruptcy and real estate law. Mr.
Lawrence is admitted to practice in Colorado since 1980 and in New York since 1981. He is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association, contributing to the legal community through his involvement in the House of Delegates. Additionally, he participates in the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy sections, where he collaborates with fellow attorneys to address pressing legal issues. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Mr. Lawrence effectively communicates with clients. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys playing music as a member of the Glastonbury Ukulele Band.
