About Peter F

Peter F Barry has built a practice that spans state and federal courts. He is licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Oregon, and is admitted to the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He practices out of The Barry Law Office, Ltd., where he handles matters that have taken him into trial court and on appeal.

Barry’s academic record is varied. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in 1983. He later attended William Mitchell College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1996. He pursued further classroom work in national security and leadership at the United States Army War College, earning a certificate in National Security and Strategy in 2014. In 2017 he completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s seven-day Deposition to Trial course and holds a Certificate of Achievement from that program.

His early professional involvement includes participation in the National Association of Consumer Advocates in 1997. In 2006 he served as an investigator for a Fourth District Ethics Committee, a role that placed him inside the ethics review process for lawyers and sharpened his understanding of professional responsibility issues. He has maintained bar memberships over long stretches: the Minnesota State Bar Association since 1996 and the Wisconsin State Bar Association since 2003.

Barry’s courtroom preparation shows through his NITA training. He has handled depositions and prepared cases for trial, and he has experience in appellate filings before the Eighth Circuit and the nation’s highest court. That mix of state and federal practice means he works at multiple stages of litigation: pleadings, discovery, trial preparation and appellate briefs. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in case preparation.

Practically minded lawyers and clients often look to him for navigation of litigation that crosses state lines or involves complex procedural questions. His Army War College coursework contributes a background in strategy and leadership that he applies to case planning and team management in multi-party matters. He remains active in bar associations and legal circles, keeping current on rules and practice updates that affect trial work and appellate procedure.

He is currently practicing from The Barry Law Office, Ltd., where his work centers on consumer advocacy, civil litigation and appellate practice.
