About Pelin

Pelin Uzay trained across three countries and three disciplines. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Bogazici University, an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University, and a J.D. from Rutgers University–Newark. The sequence of degrees shapes a practice that combines analytical rigour, narrative sense, and legal training.

After law school she established her own firm. In 2021 she founded Uzay Law, PLLC and took on the title of founding lawyer. The firm operates in Texas, where she is authorized to practice. Forming a solo practice early in her career gave her direct responsibility for client intake, case management, and the business side of running a law office.

Her membership in the American Bar Association began in 2022 and remains current. She also holds another professional membership that dates to 2021. Those affiliations provide access to professional resources and networks outside the state bar. They also reflect a willingness to remain engaged with the broader legal community.

Her academic background is unusual for a practicing attorney. Philosophy introduced rigorous argument and ethical inquiry. Film trained her in storytelling and visual thinking. Law school added procedural knowledge and doctrinal analysis. The combination shows in how she frames legal questions and communicates with clients and opposing counsel. She tends to approach problems by breaking them into discrete issues and then explaining the parts in clear, grounded language.

Colleagues describe her work style as methodical and deliberate. She handles courtroom preparation, written advocacy, and client counseling at her firm. Starting and maintaining a small practice has required attention to detail and an ability to wear multiple hats. Those daily tasks include drafting documents, managing discovery, and overseeing case strategy.

Outside of direct practice she participates in continuing legal education and professional groups. Those activities keep her current on procedural developments and practical tools. They also create opportunities to exchange perspectives with other practitioners.

She founded Uzay Law when the choice to establish an independent practice aligned with her professional goals. The firm remains her principal base of operations. Her current practice is conducted through Uzay Law, PLLC in Texas.
