Peeyush Jain is an attorney based in Saratoga, California, with over three decades of experience in intellectual property law. He has been a member of the State Bar of California since January 1992. Jain earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1988, followed by a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School in 1991. His extensive academic background laid a solid foundation for his legal career, which began shortly after he completed his law degree. In 1991, Jain started as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, a prestigious law firm known for its corporate and intellectual property practices. He worked there until 1993, gaining experience in complex legal matters.
Following his tenure at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, he joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in 1993, where he served as an associate until 1996. This firm is renowned for its focus on technology and life sciences, allowing Jain to deepen his expertise in intellectual property law. In 1996, Jain took on a new challenge as the Director of Legal Affairs at Chromatic Research, a position he held until 1998. His role involved overseeing legal strategies and ensuring compliance within the rapidly evolving tech industry. In 1998, he transitioned to Latham & Watkins as Of Counsel, where he contributed to the firm’s legal strategies until 1999. His diverse experiences in both law firms and corporate environments gave him a unique perspective on the details of intellectual property law.
From 1999 to 2013, Jain served as Deputy General Counsel at United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). In this capacity, he was instrumental in managing the company's legal affairs, including intellectual property disputes and regulatory compliance. His leadership during this period solidified his reputation as a knowledgeable expert in the field. In 2009, he co-founded Law+II, a firm specializing in intellectual property law, and has been serving as its Managing Partner since then. Under his guidance, the firm has become a respected name in the industry. In addition to his legal practice, Jain has contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings College of the Law from 2012 to 2018.
During this time, he shared his expertise with aspiring legal professionals, helping to shape the next generation of attorneys. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in various professional associations, including the California State Bar.
