About Paul R
Paul R Maxfield took an unconventional path into law. He built a foundation in business first, earning a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2004 and later completing an MBA at Western Governors University in 2015. He returned to formal legal training at Brigham Young University, where he received his J.D. in 2010. Those years show a blend of business and legal education that has shaped his work.
He began practicing soon after law school. In 2011 he launched Lex Arx Legal Services, operating as lawyer and owner. That early entry into private practice gave him hands-on experience running a small legal operation and serving individual clients. In 2014 he joined Abbott Law Office as a lawyer, taking on a caseload in a more traditional firm environment. By 2018 he formed Maxfield Law LLC and has practiced there since, building a practice around matters he encountered in his prior roles.
Maxfield is licensed to practice in Utah. He has been involved in professional circles that reflect his interest in estate matters. From 2015 to 2018 he served on the board of the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council and held the role of president during part of that period. That involvement put him in contact with other attorneys, accountants, and trust professionals, and it informed how he approaches client planning and probate issues.
His background in business management and an MBA inform his legal work. He handles estate planning, probate administration, and related business planning questions. Clients often encounter overlap between personal estate decisions and small business concerns, and he draws on both sets of training when advising them. He has represented clients in preparing wills and trusts, handling guardianship and conservatorship matters, and addressing probate filings when estates require court oversight.
Maxfield’s career shows steady movement between private entrepreneurship and traditional firm work. He has managed his own practice and worked inside another firm, giving him perspective on different models of client service. Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical; he prefers clear documents and straightforward advice that clients can act on.
He continues to lead Maxfield Law LLC from his office in Utah, where he concentrates on estate planning, probate, and business-related legal matters.
