About Paul J.
Paul J. Vames built a legal foundation across the West. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance and Real Estate from California State University, Long Beach in 1980. He continued legal study at Willamette University College of Law in 1993 and obtained his J.D. from Whittier Law School in 1995. Those years of study set the stage for a career that spans state and federal courts.
Early in his career he gained admission to the Nevada bar in the mid-1990s. Records show membership with the Nevada State Bar beginning in 1996, though that membership is currently inactive. He later joined the Oregon State Bar in 2005 and became involved in local bar organizations. That combination of admissions has allowed him access to multiple forums over the years.
He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for Nevada and Oregon. He also holds admission in the Ninth Circuit and has credentials to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court. Those court admissions reflect a practice that has handled matters at trial and on appeal across jurisdictions.
Professional memberships have been a regular part of his work life. He has maintained membership in the Oregon State Bar since 2005 and joined the Washington County Bar Association in 2006. He became a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in 2009 and remains affiliated. These associations have given him ties to both county-level colleagues and statewide trial bar peers.
Vames has practiced from offices in the Portland metropolitan area. He has maintained a Gresham office located on the second floor of the Chase Bank building and a Hillsboro office in the Orenco Park Building. Those locations have provided a base for client work across the region and for appearing in Oregon courts.
Throughout his career he has handled matters in both state and federal venues. He has experience litigating cases that have required appearances in district courts and circuit courts. He has balanced courtroom work with the procedural and appellate demands that come with federal practice.
Now based in Oregon, he continues to maintain ties to practitioners in Washington County and the broader trial bar. He handles civil litigation, including trial and appellate matters, and practices in both state and federal courts.
