About Paul Elliot
Paul Elliot Ross earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1980. His studies emphasized bankruptcy, corporate law and federal regulation. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in history, economics and physics. Those varied academic interests shaped an analytical approach to complex financial and regulatory matters.
After law school he moved into practice and over time developed a practice anchored in insolvency and federal matters. He accepted leadership responsibilities in 2002 when he became CEO and chief lawyer at Ross & Associates, P.A. The firm has been the center of his professional life for more than two decades. He has combined courtroom work with counseling businesses and individuals through reorganizations and debt-related litigation.
Ross holds admissions beyond the Minnesota bar. His credentials include appearances in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Eighth and Federal Circuits. He is a notary public for the State of Minnesota. Memberships have been a steady part of his career life. He has belonged to the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section since 1991 and joined the Minnesota Section of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys in 2006. Those affiliations have kept him connected to developments in bankruptcy law and procedure.
His practice draws on the bankruptcy, corporate and federal regulation background noted on his transcript. He handles reorganizations, creditor-debtor disputes and appeals in federal appellate courts when the matter moves beyond the trial level. He also routinely prepares and reviews filings and advises on procedural and substantive issues that appear in bankruptcy litigation. The work can range from drafting plans of reorganization to arguing motions in contested matters.
Clients and colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and willing to step into appellate work when necessary. He balances courtroom advocacy with the paperwork that accompanies insolvency practice. In the office he oversees case strategy and firm operations as chief lawyer, a role he has held since 2002. He continues to practice at Ross & Associates, P.A., handling bankruptcy matters and related federal and corporate issues.
