Paul Edward Smithers is an attorney specializing in personal injury, business law, employment law, and real estate law. He is the founding partner of Smithers Law Firm, which is strategically located at 303 Twin Dolphin Drive, Suite 600, Redwood City, California. Mr. Smithers earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1981. After completing his law degree, Mr. Smithers gained inexperience by clerking for Judge William A. Ingram of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California from 1986 to 1987. This position provided him with insights into federal court procedures and the details of judicial decision-making. Following his clerkship, he began his private practice with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in San Jose and San Francisco, where he developed his skills in commercial litigation. Later, he joined Cooley in Palo Alto, further solidifying his expertise in employment and trade secret cases. In 1990, Mr.
Smithers founded Smithers Law Firm, focusing on commercial litigation with a particular emphasis on employment and trade secret disputes. His firm has since built a reputation for effective legal representation and client advocacy. Beyond his practice, Mr. Smithers actively contributes to the legal community as an arbitrator and judge pro tem for the Santa Clara County Superior Court. His commitment to legal education is evident through his role as an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University School of Law since 2005, where he teaches a course on trade secrets. Mr. Smithers is admitted to practice law in all California state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
