About Paul
Paul Dahlberg took a circuitous path to law. He studied political science and Russian studies at Luther College, graduating in 1988. He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1992. Those years of study left him comfortable with complex rules and procedural detail. They also gave him a foundation for work in state and federal courts.
He began practicing in 1992 at Doar, Drill & Skow. That earliest post put him in the day-to-day of litigation. Two years later he moved into a leadership role. In 1994 he became managing partner at Meshbesher & Spence. The title came early, but he kept the work practical: case preparation, client meetings, and courtroom appearances. In 2009 he joined Patterson Dahlberg as a partner, a role he holds today.
Dahlberg’s admissions reflect a broad practice footprint. He is admitted to the Minnesota and Wisconsin bars, the Minnesota and Wisconsin Supreme Courts, the United States District Courts for the Districts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and the Seventh and Eighth Circuits. Those credentials allow him to file motions and try cases in both state and federal forums across multiple jurisdictions.
Outside the office he is involved in professional associations that center on trial practice. He maintains memberships in the Minnesota Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations signal active engagement with litigation trends, continuing legal education, and the networks that support courtroom work.
Colleagues describe Dahlberg as someone who blends administrative responsibility with hands-on case work. He has navigated the internal demands of firm management while keeping a docket of contested matters. His time as managing partner gave him experience overseeing operations and mentoring other lawyers. His later move to partnership at Patterson Dahlberg allowed him to refocus on client work while remaining in a leadership role.
He divides his time between office responsibilities and court appearances. He represents clients in filings, pretrial proceedings, and trials in both state and federal courts. He also handles appeals at the circuit level when cases require it. He is based at Patterson Dahlberg, a firm that maintains multiple offices.
He continues to practice actively and focuses his current practice on civil litigation and trial work.
