He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Notre Dame, completing undergraduate studies in 1980 after beginning in 1976. He went on to Wayne State University Law School, where he received his J.D. in 1983 and pursued an emphasis in law and business during the early 1980s.
Since earning his law degree, Sughroue has practiced in Michigan.
