About Patrick J.
Patrick J. Rengstl built his legal foundation in Florida. He earned a B.S. from the University of Miami in 1998 and a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2002. Those years laid out a trajectory into courtroom practice and federal filings.
He began his career at Tew Cardenas LLP in 2002. The role there was his first professional placement after law school. That early work offered him steady trial and litigation exposure and an introduction to federal practice in the state.
By 2010 he was practicing at Payton & Rengstl, LLC. The move marked a shift toward more autonomous practice and client-facing responsibilities. It also broadened the types of matters he handled and deepened his familiarity with Florida procedure and federal filings.
Over time his credentials expanded to include admission in Florida federal courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Those admissions reflect repeated work in both trial and appellate settings. He has pursued matters at different stages of litigation and in multiple forums.
Today he serves as Of Counsel at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC. In that capacity he draws on nearly a quarter-century of legal experience. His role combines research, motion practice and courtroom appearances in state and federal arenas.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in court. He approaches each case by focusing on the concrete steps that move litigation forward. He has spent years balancing written advocacy with in-person advocacy before judges and juries.
Outside of court, he maintains professional ties in the Florida legal community. He continues to work through complex procedural issues and to prepare appeals when cases warrant appellate review. He handles matters in Florida state courts, in the federal trial courts, and in the Eleventh Circuit.
