About Patrick J.

Patrick J. Boyd built his legal foundation at Dartmouth College, where he earned a B.A. in 1995. He finished law school at St. John’s University School of Law in 2000 and moved quickly into public service. Those early years shaped the contours of a career that would center on employment law and litigation.

Fresh out of law school, Boyd joined the office of the General Counsel at the New York City Board of Education in 2000. He worked on legal matters affecting a large municipal bureaucracy. The role exposed him to complex employment and administrative issues and to the mechanics of public-sector personnel law.

In 2002 he entered private practice as an associate at Jackson Lewis. That stint deepened his litigation experience and familiarized him with counsel’s work for both employees and employers. Three years later he set out on his own. In 2005 he became a founding partner of The Boyd Law Group, PLLC, and has led the firm since then.

Boyd holds admission to practice in New York and before several federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York, and the District of Connecticut. He has handled matters in both state and federal forums and has taken cases through pretrial proceedings and trial stages.

Professional affiliations have followed the career arc. Boyd is a member of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He belongs to the National Employment Lawyers Association and its New York section. He also maintains membership in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. These memberships align with a practice that engages recurring questions about workplace rights and employer obligations.

Throughout his career Boyd has focused on disputes that arise from the employer-employee relationship. His practice addresses wage-and-hour matters, discrimination and retaliation claims, and other workplace disputes. He represents clients in litigation and in negotiations, and he appears for clients in court when cases advance to trial.

At The Boyd Law Group, PLLC he continues to counsel and litigate on behalf of individuals who bring employment claims. He manages trial preparation, oversees litigation strategy, and handles client counseling. He currently concentrates his practice on employment law matters, including wage-and-hour disputes, discrimination claims and related litigation.
