About Patrick D.
Patrick D. Austermuehle took a nontraditional route to law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy and History from the University of Wisconsin 6Madison in 2006. Three years later he completed his J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, entering the bar stages of practice soon after.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions shape the day-to-day work he does. He appears in state courts across Illinois and handles matters in federal court when cases require it.
His career is rooted in private practice. After law school he joined a firm environment that emphasized civil litigation. Over time he took on greater responsibility and now serves as a partner at Lubin Austermuehle, P.C. The role combines case management, courtroom work, and client advising. He works on cases that move through pleading, motion practice, discovery, and trial phases.
Outside of casework he participates in local legal circles. He is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and holds membership in the Illinois State Bar Association. Those ties keep him connected to developments in state rules and federal procedure. They also provide regular contact with other lawyers in the region.
Peers and clients describe him as practical and detail-oriented. He approaches matters step by step, testing legal theories against facts and procedural requirements. He emphasizes preparedness before courtroom appearances and expects thorough documentation when cases move into discovery.
At the firm he shares oversight of litigation strategy and mentors associates on courtroom technique and case management. He contributes to client meetings, settlement negotiations, and the drafting of briefs and motions. His courtroom experience includes presenting arguments to judges and handling evidentiary matters at hearings.
Outside the office he maintains ties to his Wisconsin undergraduate roots and keeps up with legal developments affecting Illinois practice. He balances casework and administrative duties within the firm and continues to build experience in both state and federal litigation. He represents individuals and businesses in state and federal courts.
