About Patrick Aulton
Patrick Aulton Chisum built his legal foundations at the University of South Carolina, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2004. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law. Those academic years set the stage for a career centered in South Carolina courts.
He began engaging with the local legal community early. Chisum joined the Charleston County Bar Association in 2009 and became involved with the Charleston Lawyers Club and the South Carolina Federal Bar Association in 2013. By 2014 he had also joined national groups tied to criminal defense practice.
His résumé lists a role as a lawyer at Gruenloh Law Office in 2012. That position is part of a longer pattern of membership in organizations that serve trial lawyers and criminal defense practitioners. He has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Academy of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2014. Those affiliations point to a practice shaped by courtroom work and defense strategy.
Chisum is licensed to practice in South Carolina and maintains ties to both county and federal bar groups. He appears regularly in local professional settings, attending bar events and participating in conversations about criminal law and federal practice. Colleagues know him for steady courtroom presence and for preparing cases for trial and plea negotiations.
Over the years his work has involved case preparation, client counseling, and courtroom appearances at various levels of state and federal jurisdiction within South Carolina. He handles investigations, pretrial motions, and trial work, and he represents clients facing criminal charges. His practice combines advocacy in court with the paperwork and negotiations that cases demand.
Today Chisum practices at Gruenloh Law Office. He continues to take on criminal defense matters and related litigation in South Carolina courts, balancing trial work with client counseling and case management.
