Patricia N. Engel is a retired shareholder at Schott, Bublitz & Engel s.c., a well-respected law firm located at 640 West Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1988, she has dedicated her career to various areas of law, including civil litigation, business and corporate law, personal injury, real estate, criminal defense, family law, and estate planning. Prior to pursuing her legal education, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980. Before entering the legal field, she worked as a special education teacher, which provided her with unique insights into education law—an area she would later focus on extensively. Her experience includes advocating for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 accommodations, mediations, due process hearings, and disciplinary proceedings.
She has consistently championed the rights of students, ensuring they receive the educational support they need. In 2001, she co-authored an article titled "School Expulsions: Not all are Equal," published in the Wisconsin Lawyer, which further solidified her reputation as an authority in the field. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Engel has actively participated in various community and professional organizations. From 1991 to 1994, she served as an officer and director of the Association for Women Lawyers, promoting the interests of women in the legal profession. Since 2012, she has been a board member of Camp AweSum, Inc., a camp dedicated to children with autism, demonstrating her commitment to special needs advocacy.
Furthermore, her role as a SPRED Helper Catechist at Christ King Parish from 2006 to 2016 highlights her dedication to education and community service.
